DAY 01 ARRIVE KOLKATA
Arriving Kolkata - a city of love and warmth, sorrow and despair,
dreams and hopes, poverty and squalor, grandeur and glory. Kolkata
is compelling , effervescent, teeming with life and traditions
- a medley of moods, styles, cultures, politics, industry and
commerce. Meet and Greet at the Airport. Transfer to Hotel for
check in. Break fast at the hotel. Afternoon city tour of Kolkata
visiting the Viceroy's residence, Chowringhee, Indian Museum,
Botanical Gardens, Fort William, Victoria Memorial, St. Paul's
Cathedral, etc. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 02 KOLKATA / BODHGAYA
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Howrah Railway Station
to board the train for Gaya. On arrival, transfer to Bodhgaya,
the place where Gautam, later called the Buddha attained Enlightenment.
And here under a peepal tree one of the great religions of the
world, Buddhism, was created. On arrival, check in and overnight
at hotel.
DAY 03 BODHGAYA
After breakfast, visit Mahabodhi Temple, 80 Feet Budha Temple
and many other budhist temples. Evening free and overnight at
Hotel.
DAY 04 BODHGAYA / NALANDA / RAJGIR / BODHGAYA
After breakfast, take an excursion of Nalanda, a vast
ancient ruin which was probably founded by the Gupta Emper or
Kumaragupta (c.AD. 413-55). It was one of the greatest universities
of ancient times and a famous centre of Oriental art and learning.
Afternoon proceed to Rajgir, the erstwhile capital of
the great Magadha Empire, Rajgir, or Rajgriha (meaning the Home
of the Kingdom) is intimately connected with the life and times
of the Buddha, for the Lord delivered many celebrated sermons
in the garden of Veluvana which was gifted to him by King Bimbisara.And
it was here in the Saptaparni Cave that the first Buddhist Council
was held shortly after the Buddha's death. Evening drive back
to Bodhgaya. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 05 BODHGAYA / VARANASI
After breakfast, morning free. Check out at noon anf transfer
to Gaya Railway Station to board the train to Varanasi, the
city of temples. On arrival, transfer to hotel and check in.
Overnight at hotel.
DAY 06 VARANASI / SARNATH / VARANASI
Early morning boat ride on river Ganges to see the beautiful
sunrise at Ganges.After the boat ride see the holi ghats & temples.
Afternoon visit Sarnath, a famous Budhist pilgrim where
Lord Budhdha gave his first sermon to his disciples. Evening
free and overnight at hotel.
DAY 07 VARANASI / GORAKHPUR
After breakfast, check out and drive down to Gorakhpur. On arrival,
check in at the hotel. Evening free and overnight at hotel.
DAY 08 GORAKHPUR / KUSHINAGAR / LUMBINI / BALRAMPUR
After breakfast, check out and drive down to Balrampur. En-route
visit Kushinagar where Buddha took his last breadth and Lumbini,
the birthplace of the Buddha. On arrival, check in and overnight
at hotel.
DAY 09 BALRAMPUR / SRAVASTI / LUCKNOW
After breakfast check out from Hotel. Visit Sravasti,
the capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala, has the honour
for sheltering Buddha for 24 rainy seasons in the Jetvana Gardens.
This holy place also has the famous Anand Bodhi tree, an offspring
of the one, said to have been planted by Buddha's main disciple.
Afternoon drive down to Lucknow, the city of Nawabs. On arrival
check in Hotel. Evening free. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 10 LUCKNOW / HOWRAH
After breakfast, morning free. Check out at noon and transfer
to Railway Station to board the train for Howrah. Overnight
on board.
DAY 11 HOWRAH
After Breakfast check out from the Hotel. Day for shopping and
transfer to International Airport for onward destination.
