Kasauni - provides historical and religious interest as well
as natural beauty. Though there is neither railroad nor airport
nearby, it is well connected by road. Kausani is surrounded
by dense pine forests. Separated from the Nanda Devi ranges
by low mountains, it provides, however, a breathtaking view
of the snow-covered peaks.
ACCESS
Nearest airport is Naini Saini, Pithoragarh, 112 km, and nearest
railhead is Kathgodam, 214 km away.
EXCURSIONS
Baijnath, to the ancient and intricately carved temples along
the banks of the Gomti is worthwhile. Baghnath temple at Bageshwar,
42 km away, where the Gomti and Saryu rivers converge, Gwaldam
which provides a base for treks to Roopkund and to the Pindari
glaciers.
